Flora Baker Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders

The first of its kind in our region, the Flora Baker Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders, sponsored by Shore Medical Center, provides a much needed resource for our community, expanding available expertise in cognitive neurosciences and provide a streamlined approach to diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. The center is located at Shore Physicians Group's Neurology office located at 52 East New York Ave in Somers Point, NJ.

This Flora Baker Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders:

  • Ensures communication and coordination amongst care providers, family and caregivers; including guidance to patients and families in need of medical, social and outreach services.
  • Provides local access and guidance on specialized diagnostic measures and interventions, including access to clinical trials.
  • Offers local education for clinicians, caregivers, families and the community, including medical management care methods, methods of successful aging

A Special Thank You

The Ocean City Masonic Lodge No. 171 has donated $500,000 to Shore Medical Center in the name of Flora Baker to establish an Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Center. The program is made possible by a gift to the Ocean City Masonic group from Flora Baker and her husband Benjamin G. Baker, both deceased, who were residents of Ocean City from 1954 until their passing. During their lifetime, the Bakers, local hotel owners and operators, were great benefactors of Shore Medical Center. In honor of her husband Benjamin, Flora Baker made an endowment gift to the Masons earmarked for Alzheimer’s treatment.
